Sail Across the Pacific Ocean with Us!
IT’S OFFICIAL - ATALANTA IS SAILING TO HAWAII IN 2026!!
Tropical Waters Await
After five years of painstakingly preparing Atalanta for a major ocean crossing, we are pleased to announce she will sail to Honolulu from Monterey and back in the summer of 2026.
If sailing across the Pacific Ocean is on your bucket list, we invite you to sign on as crew for this epic adventure on the sleek and beautiful Farr 53, Atalanta. Whether you are looking to improve your ocean voyaging skills, simply take in the vast expanse of this watery planet, or a combination of both, this trip is one you won’t want to miss!
Ready to Cross an Ocean
You will have the opportunity to be part of a crew of likeminded people who dream of making a long passage across the largest ocean on earth. Why? For the challenge? For the deep introspection that days at sea can provide? Because it is there? Only you can answer this question as it is different for each of us.
Halfway across, over a thousand miles from the nearest land, out of the shipping lanes and in water 20,000 feet deep, the nearest human to our boat may well be on the space station. Can you endure the solitude? The feeling of being an infinitesimal speck in the universe of stars above you? On this trip, you will disconnect from land life and feel the magnitude of the wilderness around you. You will develop a powerful connection to nature and, hopefully, to yourself.
Venturing out from Monterey Bay
I am Captain Kevin Wasbauer, a veteran ocean racer with multiple Atlantic and Pacific ocean crossings including 4 Pacific races and a recent stint crewing on board the legendary yacht Merlin. I am excited to finally let Atalanta stretch her legs on the wide open ocean. I bring a lifetime of experience and am eager to teach crew about everything from safety fundamentals to advanced sail trim techniques, as well as engage in conversations about the philosophy of sailing and the self-discovery possible when far offshore. An experienced professional first mate will round out the crew.
Asymmetric Spinnaker Poled off the Headstay, Summer 2025
This crossing will be a relaxing non-race, but we will optimize our trim, including flying spinnakers when conditions permit, to keep the easily-driven Atalanta traveling at a good clip on her way to and from the tropics.
