Frequently Asked Questions

MONTEREY BAY

Where should I park?

Visitor parking is available both on Wharf II or in any of the public lots in and around Del Monte Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf. Be sure to include enough time on your meter as they do patrol regularly. Atalanta will be parked on A Tier, which is about halfway out the pier next to the Sandbar & Grill.

What should I wear onboard?

Comfortable walking or tennis shoes are recommended. To ensure grip and to prevent damage to the deck, only non-skid rubber or white-soled shoes are allowed on board. No shoes with black soles, heels, or heeled boots, please.

Please dress warmly. We highly recommend layering. Even when it is hot nearby, it is often quite cool on the coast and a jacket will keep you comfortable. Stocking caps and gloves are nice to have just in case. Atalanta is furnished with blankets for use on deck or in the cockpits.

Will I get seasick?

Although Monterey Bay is somewhat sheltered, it is also partially open to the wide Pacific Ocean, which means there are swells and waves. People who experience motion sickness should take medication in advance such as Dramamine or Scopolamine. Ginger (gummies, ginger ale) is also good against nausea.

If you do feel unwell, it is best to stay on deck and keep your gaze fixed on the horizon. Being below decks is likely to make seasickness worse.

What else should I bring?

There is an assortment of snacks and non-alcoholic beverages on board. Feel free to bring your own favorite food and drink. On longer trips, lunch or other meals may be provided. Please contact us in advance. Sunglasses, brimmed hat, binoculars and sunblock are also good to bring.

Are children allowed?

Yes! We love having kids and families on board. Under 12 are required by the Coast Guard to wear life jackets, which we provide.
